Chair Repair
Chair repairs are a big part of our business. We do everything from minor chair repairs including repairing cane chairs and antique chair repair, to full chair restoration including antique chair restoration.
Most chairs will need some sort of attention during their life time. Lots of older chairs start to get a bit wobbly due to being used on a regular basis. Most antique chairs were glued using animal based glues which tend to perish after a period of time. Modern timber glues are more superior but chair repairs are still needed.

Cane Chair Repair
Chair caning is a form of seating that has been around for hundreds of years.
Cane, or sometimes referred to as rattan, is sourced and manufactured in Indonesia & Malaysia. The cane comes from the hard shiny outer bark of the rattan or cane palm.
Hand Caning Services
Hand caned seating was a very popular method used for bentwood chairs. Michael Thonet was one bentwood chair manufacturer that used cane chair seating extensively in a lot of his designs.
Hand caning is a skill that can take many years to learn and we are happy to be able to provide you with this chair re caning service.
Sheet Cane Services
Chair caning using sheet cane is a machine-made product sometimes referred to as loom cane, chair cane webbing, pre-woven cane or pre woven rattan.
Lots of people ask how do I tell whether my chair needs to be hand caned or sheet caned? The answer is quite simple, if you turn the chair over and you can see cane holes around the seat frame, this means it's hand caned. If you can't, then it will be sheet caned.
We provide both sheet and hand caning services.
Rush Seating Services
Rush chair seating has been around since the Middle Ages. Rush is a readily available material that grows along waterways in the UK and Europe. The most common forms of rush are the bulrush or European flat rush (redmace). Both forms of rush are widely used in the repair of rush chairs but bulrush is our preferred material mainly because of availability.
We can replace your rush chair seat using traditional English and continental methods that have been around for centuries.
Paper Rush Seating Services
Paper rush, or sometimes known as fibre rush, is widely used as a substitute to real rush. The same traditional methods are used on your rush chair and we can make the paper rush look very close to the real thing.
Danish Cord Seating Services
Danish cord seating is found on modern Scandinavian designed chairs. Designers like Hans Wagner used this method of seating extensively on his mid-20th century chair designs.
We can replace the old danish cord seat using the same traditional methods used in the mid-20th century.
