We Specialise In...
Antique Furniture Restoration & Repair
Acclaimed Furniture Restoration is a conservation and restoration business based in the inner west of Sydney.
Specialising in the restoration of antique furniture, we have had everything from museum pieces to family heirlooms through our workshop.
With a craftsman skill set that only can come from many years spent in the workshop, we use traditional restoration methods and techniques.
We specialise in traditional French polishing, cabinet repair, veneer repair, leather desk top repair, card table felt replacement, mirror resilvering, etc.
Furniture Restoration & Repair
We are happy to restore furniture from all periods and styles. In our workshop, there is everything from Victorian to 20th century and modern.
We classify fireplaces as architectural furniture which needs the same restoration skill set as antique furniture.

French Polishing
We provide full french polishing services using traditional methods and techniques.
There can be no better method of enhancing the natural beauty of an antique heirloom, than using the traditional french polishing method.
Reviving Old French Polish
Reviving old french polish, rather than completely repolishing, can achieve an excellent result on some pieces.
We have used this traditional skill set many times over the years.
Danish Oil Finish
Danish or Scandinavian oil is a popular finish with mid-20th century furniture. We can give the finish a matt satin or even a gloss finish using the same traditional Danish oil application.
Wax Finish
Wax finishes have been popular and used extensively in the restoration of country pine furniture. Using our traditional methods we can give an organic texture to a pine country antique.
Antique Brass & Iron Bed Restoration
We are one of the few restorers left in Australia who restore antique brass & iron beds.
We provide full restoration of beds including sand blasting, powder coating, specialist cast iron welding, brass & metal replacement and polishing and custom made replacement bed bases.

Chair Repair & Chair Restoration
Chair repairs are a big part of our restoration business from minor repairs to full chair restoration. We have a vast knowledge of traditional seat restoration skills including:
Chair Reupholstery
We can provide professional upholstery services whilst your chair is being repaired or restored.
Hand Caning
We can repair your damaged cane seat using traditional hand caning methods with materials that have been around for centuries.
Sheet Caning
Sheet cane is a pre-woven machine cane material that we use for the repair of chairs that have a recessed groove in the seat frame.
Rush Seating
We use traditional organic bulrush along with English and Continental techniques in our rush seat restorations.
Paper Rush
Paper or fibre rush is a substitute for the real bulrush. We can make the paper rush look very similar to a real rush chair seat.
Danish Cord
Danish cord is mainly used on mid-20th century and Scandinavian period chairs.
We use the same traditional techniques and methods as were used in the mid-20th century.
